Q & A
Q: Where did you grow up? A: Southern California.
A: I was born in Riverside. My family moved to Nor-Cal when I was in 7th grade.
Q: When did you start playing guitar and what's your favorite guitar?
A: I picked up my Grandpas Gibson acoustic age 6, but that didn't last long when I snapped a string right away. I started actually playing when I was 14. I still have my Grandpas Gibson and my own collection of guitars now that include Martin, Taylor, Gibson, Fender and my custom builds.
Q: What was the first song you learned on the guitar?
A: "Crazy Train" by Ozzy Osbourne and "Breaking The Girl" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I had one guitar lesson when I was 15 and hated it. I left the session early, riding home from the community center on my bike. I’ve just kind of learned to play by ear over time.
Q: Why music?
A: I've done it since I can remember. In high school my buddies and I formed a couple bands. I don’t know, music is just something I’ve always done because I love it. It’s rad being able to share stories and ideas with the world.
Q: What are some of your favorite Surf Movies?
A: Endless Summer, View From A Blue Moon, Filthy Habbits, Blazing Boards, Green Iguana. They’re timeless.
Q: Who are some of your musical influences?
A: Zeppelin, Hendrix, Ben Harper, Beatles, Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Bob Dylan , Otis Redding, Neil Young, Bob Marley, Mason Jennings. I really listen to listen to all kinds of music and love learning from everyone. Always diving into new sounds and feels.
